1. What Java Development Kit (JDK) I need to use ?

When we install an Oracle Weblogic server, we need to have an JDK installed. This is true for Windows and for Linux as well. The first question we have in our minds is 'What Java Development Kit (JDK) I need to use ?'. The response is in the installation guide or in the WebLogic server certification matrix. Note that the certification matrix is more for the Oracle Fusion Middleware.
In our case we need to use the JDK 6.
ATTENTION:
JDK 7 certification is available only with WLS 10.3.6+/FMW 11.1.1.6+. Oracle does not support use of JDK 7 with WLS 10.3.1-10.3.5/FMW 11.1.1.1.0 - 11.1.1.5.0.

2. What JDK is used by my Windows ?
Sometimes, you can have multiple JDK installation on the Operating System (generally, multiple versions). To check the java version you are using run the command bellow: For setting the environment to use a particular JDK home (version) you can use PATH or JAVA_HOME environment variable. PATH setting is stronger !!! Setting the correct JDK for the installation is very important !
3. Oracle WebLogic 10.3.6 installation on Windows - step by step
Verify the JDK you are using in the command prompt and go to the WebLogic installation file directory.

Run the command bellow to start the installation:

java -jar wls1036_generic.jar (wls1036_generic.jar file was already downloaded from Oracle download web site)

The following window will appear:

When the .jar file is extracted 100%, a new window will appear:

After reading the instructions, we can press 'Next'.

You can choose a Middleware home (the default, or a new one). Click on 'Next'.

Here I have checked 'I wish to receive security updates via My Oracle Support'. Generally I uncheck it. Click on 'Next'.

This message appear because I checked 'I wish to receive security updates via My Oracle Support'. You can leave it unchecked. Click on 'Yes'.

Click on 'Yes'.


Check 'I wish to remain uninformed of security ...'. Click on 'Continue'.

You can choose 'Typical' or 'Custom'. In my case I have chosen 'Typical'. Click on 'Next'.

There are no bundeled JDK with a .jar file, so we have to have a local JDK installed. Sun SDK1.6 u45 is already on the system. Click on 'Next'.

Choose the Oracle Weblogic product home. The same for the Oracle Coherence. Click on 'Next'.

Click on 'Next'. And the following window will appear:

When this window disappear, the installation is done and the following window will be seen:

ATTENTION:
wls1036_generic.jar installation file is used for 64 bit installation. For 32 bit we have to download other installation file !!!

Oracle Weblogic 10.3 6 Download Windows 64 Bit

This article describes the default installation of Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.6) on Windows (64-bit). The intention is to use this installation as the base for an Oracle Forms and Reports 11gR2 Developer installation.

Software

Download the WebLogic Server software from Oracle Technology Network. Make sure it is version 10.3.5 if you are planning to use if for Forms and Reports 11gR2.

Installation

Install the JDK by double-clicking on the executable and accepting the defaults. Once that is complete, start the WebLogic installation.
From the command prompt, issue the following statements.
Click the 'Next' button on the welcome screen.

Bea Weblogic

Enter a location for the middleware home directory (c:apporaclemiddleware), then click the 'Next' button.
Enter your MOS details, or uncheck the checkbox if you don't want security updates, then click the 'Next' button. Accept all the warnings about remaining uninformed of security updates
Accept the 'Typical' installation by clicking the 'Next' button.
Select the JDK location and click the 'Next' button.

Click the 'Next' button to accept the default product installation directories.
Click the 'Next' button.
If you are happy with the installation summary, click the 'Next' button.
Wait while the installation takes place.
Uncheck the 'Quickstart' checkbox, then click the 'Done' button.
You can now proceed to install Oracle Forms and Reports 11gR2.

Post-Installation

Oracle Weblogic Suite

If you are planning to use the installation for something other than Oracle Forms and Reports 11gR2, you will need to create a new domain to work with. This can be done using this Quickstart tool available from the menu.
